What We Do

Advisory Services

Strategy sets the route, direction and cargo. Leadership is concerned with who's on the bridge and in the engine room. Governance requires compliance with the rules of the seas.

The Investrum Approach

Tailored advice for individual businesses.

Investrum is an independent advisory practice led by Adam Davies – a former business school professor, Sloan Fellow and practising solicitor.

His CEO and advisory experience spans City law firms, strategy consulting, media finance, consumer platforms, climate risk and reporting, and pioneering machine learning and AI-based ventures.

Every engagement is led by Adam personally, supported by a trusted network of specialists covering AI and technology implementation, regulatory compliance, operations, data and analytics, finance and HR.

The Work

The arc of transformation

Transformation requires an understanding of where the business is today, before deciding where to go tomorrow. A strategic audit or similar diagnostic is often, therefore, the first stage. It is then important to choose strategic goals and objectives that are practical and achievable, and also align with the organisation's vision, mission, competencies and stakeholder ambition. They should be mutually compatible, and defined by appropriate measurements and timelines. The implementation of these strategies can involve organisational restructure with new reporting lines, investment in both human and non-human capital, acquiring new competencies, and M&A activity and integration, whilst always maintaining or enhancing corporate culture. There are often a range of options to consider, and decisions should be made based on financial viability, practical feasibility, and general organisational alignment. Successful execution requires appropriate measurement, monitoring, reporting and accountability.

Meanwhile, good governance runs through the entire process, not as a separate exercise but as the overarching framework keeping people, decisions and accountability properly aligned.

Diagnostic

Understanding who the key stakeholders are, the business's core competencies, the competitive landscape, and the quality and profitability of its products or services. Can be commissioned standalone, or as the first step into a larger engagement.

Strategic Planning

Assessing the options, setting clear goals and objectives, and securing buy-in from the stakeholders identified during diagnosis.

Implementation

Turning the plan into action – reporting lines, investment decisions, organisational structure, human capital and branding, as required.

Monitoring

Establishing what should be measured, the milestones that matter, and how to know whether things are going to plan – and what to do when they are not.

How We Engage

We start with a conversation.

We are happy to spend an hour understanding your situation and objectives. That conversation is without charge and without obligation. From there, we agree the best way forward.

Advisory

Working directly with the organisation on strategic diagnostics, planning and implementation.

Leadership

Advising leadership teams on culture, accountability, organisational structure and governance – both formal oversight and informal dynamics.

Executive Coaching

Working one-to-one with senior executives, independently from the wider organisational engagement.

Interim and Fractional Leadership

On occasion, we draw from our network to provide experienced short-term or part-time leadership where the situation requires.

Your first consultation is free.

We are happy to spend an hour understanding your situation and objectives – no agenda, no presentation. If it makes sense to work together, we can agree the best approach from there.
